Mining and natural resource group Anglo American is to merge its Mondi Packaging corrugated business with Bauernfeind’s corrugated paper and packaging business in a EUR94M deal which, assuming regulatory approval, will see Anglo American own 100% of the enlarged Mondi Packaging operations. Bauernfeind operates five paper mills producing 580 000 tonnes of mainly waste-based corrugated case materials annually. Its 10-plant converting business has a corrugating capacity of 1.2bn m2.

Berryman Glass has received planning permission to build a £7M glass recycling plant for Rockware’s Wheatley, Doncaster site. Once operational, it will enable Rockware to double the volume of waste glass that can be used in its factories.
