US-based plastic packaging products maker Berry Global has helped Italian food company Kata Food to transform its range of products.

Berry has used its square SuperCube pail design for a different packaging shape and artwork decoration which led to optimised logistics and better shelf appearance.

The packaging firm said that the new square shape offers space benefits in addition to the improved shelf presence.

The layout maximises the space on each pallet, which is beneficial for both storage and transportation.

Berry said that the ease of stocking the square containers is also advantageous to distributors and retailers.

As a result, superstores and hypermarkets are placing larger orders that minimise the need for transportation fuel, said the packaging firm.

The container’s decoration includes a detailed depiction of a lady’s head that is decorated with eye-catching colours, made using Berry’s advanced In-Mould Labelling technique.

Kata Food uses the SuperCube packaging technology in two sizes: 2.2 litres and 5.2 litres.

The presence of a large see-through area on the upper third makes it easy for the consumer to take a look at the product while shopping.

Kata Food is a family-run company that exports olives, oil-based preserves, and pickles to several European countries.

Berry Italy sales director Laurent Morel said: “Our SuperCube solution helps to deliver effective brand differentiation, and at the same time its square shape provides important logistics benefits.

“Reducing the impact of transportation can make a vital contribution to helping companies meet their sustainability objectives.”

Berry also announced the availability of its complete container and lid pack solution for wipes in two-litre and 800ml sizes, with a presence of 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material.

The company also invested to increase the capacity for the production of the 2-litre container.

Both containers offer safe and easy handling with an extensive decoration area to create individualised branding and a high impact on-shelf.
