Berry Healthcare, a business unit of Berry Global, has introduced a new Rispharm R2 multidose eye dropper to deliver an improved experience to patients.

The new multidose eye dropper has been designed to help maintain better drug protection and deliver performance without changes to pharma companies’ existing filling lines.

The tamper-evident band has been redesigned by the firm’s technical team to offer a secure ring retention feature and enhance the container closure integrity when in use by the patient.

According to the company, the new eye dropper meets the latest FDA recommendation to assure that the tamper-evident ring for any eye dropper stays connected to the bottle after opening with no risk of it falling off into the patient’s eye during the administration of the product.

It will help further minimise the risk of product leakage, as well as optimise the opening and closing torque to improve convenience and ease of access for the end-user.

The dropper’s design enables to provide improved convenience over single unit dose droppers, specifically when the drug needs to be carried and administered away from the home where a single bottle is easier and less bulky than boxes of single doses.

Berry’s Risdrop dropper design enables users to completely use the product as well as precisely dispense the drug.

Available in both PE (polyethylene) and PP (polypropylene) options, the mono-material construction allows to completely recycle the full system.

Berry Healthcare is offering the multidose eye dropper in capacities ranging from 5ml to 15ml, while the tamper-evident caps can be produced in different colours. It is also available in Gamma and ETO sterilisation options.

Berry Healthcare technology head Preeti Thukral said: “We understand that patients value the reassurance of a familiar routine for taking any medicines.

“These enhancements have therefore been implemented with no alterations to the bottle in order to maintain consumer confidence. And for pharmaceutical companies, this ensures that no changes are required for their existing filling lines.”

Rispharm R2 can be produced with Advanced Recycling Material rHDPE and rPP. The Bangalore facility in India, which is ISCC Plus accredited, has the potential to produce and deliver Rispharm R2 with such recycled materials.

The Offranville facility in France also produces Rispharm R2 multidose eye dropper.
