Berry Global, a US-based manufacturer and marketer of plastic packaging products, has unveiled a new line of user-friendly hot fill sauce bottles, known as Nova.

The new bottles are designed to combine an attractive on-shelf appearance with maximum consumer convenience, said the packaging firm.

The Nova bottle comes in 250ml and 500ml sizes and has a modern curved design made of clear polypropylene (PP).

It has a large labelling surface for high-impact product branding and facilitates easy handling for the end-user.

Berry can produce 38/400 flip-top closures in valved and valveless variants to offer a complete packaging solution to meet customer requirements, and the bottle’s unique shape allows it to be used both top-down and upright.

The packaging firm said that the bottles are made from PP/EVOH/PP and are suited for both cold and hot filling up to 95°C. It has a longer ambient shelf life for a wide range of sauce products.

The layered structure helps to reduce product waste, as does the top-down design and simple squeezability, which helps to maximise product evacuation and assure correct distribution.

The bottle can also be recycled at home through household recycling programmes, the firm said.

Berry’s Corby facility area sales manager Caroline Smith said: “These bottles offer an eye-catching shape and are also very tactile, which I believe will give them significant shelf appeal. It has been a joy to be involved in their development.”

Last month, Berry Global Group partnered with US-based fast-food restaurant chain Taco Bell to launch a new clear, all-plastic cup containing mechanically recycled post-consumer resin (PCR).
