Plastic closures manufacturer Bericap said it will showcase its tried-and-tested closure systems and new product features at the upcoming drinktec event, which is due to be held in September this year.

At the event, which will be held in Munich, Germany, the company  will introduce types of closure which it says will exceed the usual standards.

The will exhibit closures that combine the desire for consumer convenience, like good grip, supporting easy opening of the bottle, with optimized material usage.

This feature will be useful not only in case of still water, but also for beverages for aseptic and hot fill applications.  The company also plans to introduce new closures for carbonated beverage market as well.

Bericap, with its optimised portfolio in the area of sports caps and valves, plans to present new ideas and applications at the event.

The company developed a new two-piece sports closure that gives, a two-colour look with a transparent PP shell and a coloured HDPE pourer section. This sports closure is claimed to have been designed with tear strip and acts as evidence for tampering for the over-cap. But, it will also be available with bridges. These bridges can be broken just by moving the over-cap upward with the thumb.

The Double Galileo hinge gives an opening angle of 180°, so that over-cap is no longer in contact with the cheeks. This hinge is claimed to be compliant with BSDA safety standards.

Bericap will showcase another closure, which was in development and testing for about two years. The 28mm light PCO1881 flat closure has been developed for still water market and can save about 14% in weight when compared to its predecessor.

Besides being used for still water, the closure can be used for non-carbonated soft drinks. It has a validation of N2 dosing, that allows light weight bottles to be pressurised for better bottle stability.

The company stated that customers who are already using its CSD closure #7103 can also use this new light weight still water closure with the same filling line without having to change chucks.

Bericap says that industrial validation has been completed at a large mineral water bottler plant in Hungary.
