Bemis has completed its purchase of the Walki Films business of UPM-Kymmene for approximately $68.5M (see October issue). The deal includes plants in Valkeakoski, Finland, and Epernon, France, specializing in high barrier vacuum and modified atmosphere packaging.
US based Bemis is a major worldwide supplier of flexible packaging and pressure sensitive materials. The company reported 2001 sales of $2.3 billion. It employs about 12,000 individuals in 50 manufacturing facilities around the world.
