Turkish packaging printer Barem Ambalaj has invested in further sheetfed offset technology from Koenig & Bauer.

The Rapida 164 six-color double-coater press with triple-length extended delivery is planned to be delivered in May for installation at Barem Ambalaj’s ultramodern plant in Gaziantep.

The press is expected to complement the existing and operational five-colour Rapida 142 with inline coater and 630mm raised foundations, at the facility.

Barem plans to make official inauguration of the new production plant is planned for November following commissioning of the new press.

Configured with a high-speed package, the Rapida 164 is capable of can printing sheets up to a maximum format of 1205x1640mm at speeds up to 15,000 sheets per hour.

The press will feature accessories for mixed UV/conventional operation and will stand on 630m mm raised foundations.

Additional features of the press include sidelay-free infeed DriveTronic SIS, FAPC fully automatic plate changers, CleanTronic Multi washing systems and lowerable non-stop rollers.

The press is also equipped with VariDryBlue IR/hot-air/UV dryers, designed to significantly reduce the energy consumption for drying, as well as the Emission Extraction System (EES) to extract unpleasant odors.

Koenig & Bauer said in a statement: “Inline ink density control is handled with QualiTronic ColorControl, and the Rapida 164 possesses a LogoTronic CIPLinkX interface to pre-press to enable the conversion of CIP3 PPF data into press presetting values.”

Barem is planning to modernize and expand its capacities in Tire is next on the agenda, upon installation of the Rapida 164.

Additionally, a new large-format Rapida is planned to be installed alongside the existing six-colour Rapida 142 coater press.

Barem is also considering replacement of a large-format press from another manufacturer at its facility in Karaman.
