UK Trade & Investment has awarded SESA funding to Picon for drupa 2004. Eligible companies attending the show next May as part of the Picon organized British group can apply for a grant of 50 per cent of the costs of space and construction up to a maximum of £2,500. The Picon drupa pavilions, located in halls 9,10 and 16 will incorporate 45 British companies.

Funding has also been awarded for LabelExpo Asia, 2004 and a printing based technical seminar in China. The total support for all three events is £147,000.

Picon chief executive John Brazier commented: “At our export focus groups this year, the increasing importance of exhibitions in emerging markets such as Russia or China and overseas missions as an alternative to exhibitions, has been raised frequently. Responding to this increasing interest, we applied for the first time this year for funding for a technical mission to China.

“This is a very important market and we’re delighted to have secured this funding for our sector. We have provisionally booked a China Technical Seminar for the first quarter of 2005.”
