Avery Dennison, a US-based manufacturer and distributor of pressure-sensitive adhesive materials has inaugurated a new innovation centre, I.Lab, to display various types of RFID inlays and digital ID solutions in South Korea.

According to the firm, I.Lab is said to be a showroom where customers can visit and explore RFID technology.

Visitors can interact with practical displays created to teach and experience the advantages of RFID in real-world applications.

The space is categorised into seven different industrial areas, apparel, beauty, healthcare, food & beverage, logistics, aviation, and automobile.

After the US, the Netherlands, India, Brazil, and China, this is Avery Dennison’s sixth global innovation centre.

Avery Dennison Smartrac APAC sales and marketing director Marcel Cote said: “We are very proud to officially open our South Korean I.lab as part of Avery Dennison’s global network of I.Labs.

“This will provide our local customers and partners a fantastic facility to experience firsthand the power of RFID and Digital Solutions across various applications and use cases.

“This investment is another clear illustration of Avery Dennison’s global RFID industry leadership and commitment to supporting South Korea and the Asia Pacific region.”

The I.Lab in South Korea will increase interest in and demand for RFID technology. It also intends to offer RFID school courses to business clients that are thinking about adopting RFID technology, the company said.

Avery Dennison Smartrac South Korea senior business development manager JW Paik said: “We are in the midst of global trends like e-commerce and logistics markets, sustainability, and resource recycling are fast-growing during COVID-19, it has become a key topic for governments and corporations.

“Our I.Lab will be a centre of communication where customers can find success stories and experience products and solutions. It will definitely help our end users to integrate these technologies into their processes.”

In August this year, the company introduced two new MDO film products with post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.
