German pharma packaging company August Faller is offering fast and low-cost online ordering service for folding cartons in small batch sizes.

The company established new subsidiary, Digital Packaging Service, on 20 February 2018.

With its digital ordering facility, the new entity will provide low-cost online ordering service for folding cartons in small batch sizes.

Claimed to be the first firm to fully adopt a digital business model for all process levels, Faller is planning to complete new 4,000m² surface area production site by the end of this year in Worms, Germany, to support the new service model.

The small-volume folding carton production facility will hold capacity to run between one and 5,000 items. In future, the facility will be expanded to meet five-day delivery commitment for parcel shipments.

All order processing activities at the facility will be managed via an on-line shop or automated electronic data exchange with customers

With the support of Pantone 7 Plus Series, the printing activity will be exclusively carried out in the seven-color mode.

The company will use advanced laser technology for fully digitalised die-cutting and creasing process, helping to avoid the use of cutting dies and operate completely without tools.

The new process will allow Faller to meet the full range of high-level packaging quality requirements.

According to Fallet, the combination of printing and processing technologies with digitalization will help customers to derive new design perspectives for individualization, personalization and serialization of standard folding cartons.

The new online ordering service will also be provided for consumer goods and food sectors, in addition to the pharma and healthcare sectors.

August Faller has appointed Nikolaus Reichenbach as managing director for Digital Packaging Service.

August Faller Group managing partner and president Dr Daniel Keesman said: "With Digital Packaging Service GmbH and its highly automated, fully digitalised processes and the use of new technologies, we are able to serve market requirements that have been untapped to date.

“In future, we will be able to offer very attractively priced solutions and rapid delivery times with high-level sustainability for all branches of the folding carton market.”
