Graphical paper maker Arctic Paper has chosen Finnish technology company Tietoevry to streamline its key business processes and harmonise manufacturing operations.

Under the deal, Tietoevry will provide TIPS Industry Solutions and Services for Arctic Paper’s sales offices, two mills in Sweden and one in Poland.

TIPS solutions combine standard Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) with industry-specific Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and automation.

Tietoevry said that the solution adds flexibility to the business operations of the customer.

TIPS Industry Solutions and Services are designed for the pulp, paper, fibre, board, tissue, non-woven and packaging industries. It has already been installed in more than 300 locations globally.

Arctic Paper CEO Michal Jarczyński said: “To be a modern and attractive workplace and meet the future we, together with Tietoevry, take further steps in our digitalization strategy.

“With the implementation of TIPS, we believe it will create even more business value for our current and future stakeholders.”

Arctic Paper manufactures different varieties of papers for paper distributors, printing houses, book and magazine publishing houses, the advertising sector and packaging producers.

The company produces bio-based and premium-quality graphic and packaging paper and a variety of pulp products. It is also investing in packaging and renewable energy.

Tietoevry Industry Pulp, Paper & Fibre head Carsten Henke said: “We look forward to the collaboration with Arctic Paper as their strategic partner and are committed to fulfilling their needs to enable successful business renewal.

“Replacing the old, mill-specific processes with the supply chain part of TIPS, Sales, Plan and S&OP will improve efficiency, give a real-time view of the whole supply chain, and help the customer to break new ground in the competitive market.”

In February this year, Arctic Paper and Swedish pulp supplier Rottneros formed a joint venture with an investment of PLN100m ($22.5m) to manufacture moulded fibre trays.
