The new unique and sustainable pop-open box features what it claims to be eye-catching outer cartonboard or flexible packaging to support the high sales target in supermarkets.

AR Packaging said its different parts contributed for the project, with the packaging’s structural designs made by A&R Carton, printed prototypes produced by the digital printer Mediaköket and A&R Carton supplying the commercial packaging in Germany.

AR Packaging European key account manager Svetlana Kourianova said: “I’m very proud to be part of AR Packaging and how it provides all possibilities to work together with its many specialized subsidiaries.

“In this case Mediaköket delivered the prototypes super-fast and made it easy for me to pitch this idea to Nestlé. All cred to my great colleagues at the A&R Carton Frankfurt plant for doing a great job with design, development and of course production!”

The project started in January 2017 while the product was made available in the market in February 2018.

Each of the KitKat Senses box comprises individually-wrapped chocolates. The packaging can be turned into a sharing platter allowing the chocolates to be shared.

AR Packaging said in a statement: “The pack is very convenient to serve from – nice looking on the table – and can easily be reclosed. The tray and lid are made of 100% cartonboard and no outer plastic wrapping is needed.”

The firm said that the final decision on the packaging was made in two weeks after the prototypes were delivered. Production then started at A&R Carton in Frankfurt, Germany.

The Nestlé’s KitKat Senses chocolate, which expands Nestlé KitKat range, features three new flours including double chocolate, salted caramel and hazelnut chocolates.
