Aptar Food + Beverage has announced the launch of its Rocket sports cap with ACTIPH Water, the first alkaline ionised bottled water in Europe

Rocket is a next-generation sport cap, designed to improve the safety standards in beverage packaging with a transparent, and non-detachable tamper evidence system.

It offers visual consumer safety through a yellow-colour band to indicate whether the packaging has been opened on store shelves or at home.

In addition to visible safety, Rocket offers further safety through its double-wall lid design that protects from external contaminants, apart from adhering to child safety standards (BSDA).

The company said that its new sports cap meets the upcoming sustainability regulations, including the Single-Use Plastics (SUP) directive proposal in Europe.

Aptar EMEA sales director David Haig said: “Our goal was to develop a cap that meets consumers’ expectations of safety and drinking experience, while also addressing the increasing demand for companies to offer solutions that include sustainable packaging.

“Partnering with ACTIPH Water to combine the Rocket sports cap with its brand speaks to the innovative nature of both companies, where ACTIPH wants to match the overall consumer experience with the quality of its water.”

Aptar Food + Beverage noted that the design and functionality of Rocket would enhance what consumers and brands expect from a sport cap.

Its hinge technology offers a wide opening angle of 180º, while most caps open at a 110º angle, to provide a more comfortable drinking experience, and eliminate a lid spring-back effect.

Also, the closure of the cap is tethered to the neck of the bottle, so that it remains connected through its lifecycle, and most likely be collected and sent for recycling with the bottle.

ACTIPH Water starts from Shropshire spring water, and undergoes a process of purification, ionisation and the addition of electrolytes to achieve a pH level of 9.0 or above.

ACTIPH Water founder Jamie Douglas-Hamilton said: “ACTIPH Water is unlike any other water available because of the unique way we produce it and its high alkaline level.

“It made perfect sense to partner with Aptar, who is leading the way in safety standards and sustainable solutions, to offer a sports cap that is cohesive with the ACTIPH brand and promises of an overall premium experience.”
