Aptar Food + Beverage, a business unit of AptarGroup, has introduced a new recyclable snap top closure called PolkaLite for the sauces and condiments market.

Produced using polypropylene, the new closure is said to be suitable for bottles with a 38-400 neck finish and a 55mm outer diameter.

With a weight of only 8.4g, the new snap top closure will use 1.3g less plastic than the original Polka solution.

Featuring a large 9.7mm orifice and valve, PolkaLite is suitable for a range of food products including those with chunks or a high viscosity level such as honey and salad dressing.

Aptar stated that the new ready-to-use solution can also be easily deployed by manufacturers as it will help improve capping performance with its optimum thread profile and the durable outer shape with minimum conicity.

According to the company, the new closure is easy to scale and can readily support manufacturer expansion in an e-commerce environment.

Furthermore, the closure is said to offer a better hinge and enhanced finger recess, which facilitates a smoother grip that is easy to open and close.

The domed body deck and lower spout will also help eliminate self-opening, thereby enabling to minimise the risk of leakage.

Earlier this month, Aptar Food + Beverage launched a next-generation sport cap called Rocket that is designed to provide visual consumer safety.
