US-based 3M has introduced a new manufacturing bonding solution, 3M VHB Extrudable Tape, to bring automation, simplicity, and sustainability across industries.
The new solution combines the advantages of 3M VHB Tapes and the adaptability of a liquid adhesive in a single contained footprint that enables the usage at any size.
3M On Demand Bonding System, which is compatible with Nordson ProBond System, avoids liners and container waste while delivering instant material bonding and handling strength.
3M VHB Extrudable Tape is shipped on spools and comes as a long, coiled spool that is simple to store and does not require special handling or packaging.
3M On Demand Bonding System has a modest footprint (30″x37″) and very few moving components, making it simple to integrate into assembly lines without a lengthy list of replacement parts.
3M VHB Extrudable Tape works seamlessly on curved surfaces, odd forms, and various materials, doing away with unattractive fasteners.
The majority of inline or offline bonding scenarios involving metals, glass, rubber, woven surfaces, and plastics, either separately or in combination with one another, can be handled by the system.
The firm said 3M VHB Extrudable Tape can be utilised as a single adhesive to replace several specialist solutions in various stages of the manufacturing process.
With the new tape, bonded parts are immediately available for handling, eliminating stages and boosting throughput, thus simplifying the procedure by requiring little to no surface preparation.
The tape’s stretch release technology offers a quick and easy adhesive removal process that eliminates scrap, waste, and rework, making component repair easier, said the company.
