FPO is a unique and innovative film for packaging food and non-food products. Created by RKW, it is aluminium-free and so helps brands in achieving sustainability goals. Composed of more than 50 mineral fillers, FPO films are conceived with the well-being of the planet in mind, for current and future generations.

FPO is a mono-material made of polymers and chalk-based minerals. It offers a simple replacement of multimaterial packaging solutions, while providing equal, if not enhanced, benefits. The mineral film is the perfect answer to traditionally demanding applications. It is highly resistant to water, light and fats, and has great sealability properties, making it the ideal aluminium-free option for packaging butter and margarine, cheese, wet wipes and cosmetic creams. Among many end uses, it is also ideal for wrapping, pouches, form film and seal, labels, tubes, lamination and tags.

Fewer polymers, more sustainability

High energy consumption generally makes manufacturing aluminium and plastic packaging relatively expensive. FPO lowers costs and improves sustainability results. The superior proportion of minerals in the film keeps the use of polymers to a minimum and reduces its overall carbon footprint.

Thanks to its quality appearance and printability, the FPO packaging solution also serves as a selling tool, helping products to stand out from the competition.

RKW has a wealth of expertise in mineral-filled master batches, films based on polyolefins, and customised, ready-to-use compounds. As well as offering a wide range of off-the-shelf films, the company produce tailored films that perfectly match your particular requirements.

Pure taste in aluminium-free wrapper

Butter wrappers are mostly made from aluminium or aluminium-coated laminates as these materials can be easily folded. However, there is public concern about possible health risks involved in using aluminium in direct contact with food products. With FPO films, RKW has created a sustainable and aluminium-free packaging alternative. Ideal for butter, margarine, cottage cheese and other demanding dairy products, the packaging has already received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Commission. This aluminium-free alternative offers further advantages when it comes to inspection, as standard metal detectors can be used to identify contaminants instead of X-ray detection systems.
