RNIB chooses Beck to wrap “talking books”

The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) is using two Beck Automaten Serienpacker filmwrappers to wrap and dispatch thousands of "Talking Book" CDs distributed to Institute members every month.

The machines have been installed at the RNIB’s London Falcon Park Talking Book Centre and were supplied by Beck’s UK and Ireland agent, Friedheim International.

Launched in 1935, the Talking Book Service now has over 40,000 active UK members and a growing number can now choose from some 6,000 books on CD.

The Beck lines handle the new CD distribution. After being conveyed along the line, sensor-checked to ensure there are no damaged or unrequested items (which are rejected into bins), each CD is filmwrapped, sealed and addressed before sortation and placement into regional, numbered sacks for the Post Office.
